Victorian Transformation
The owners of an existing 19th-century Victorian house desired a modern home with an open concept but also wished to retain some architectural elements of the original home. To that end, the interiors needed a total gut renovation however the existing crown molding, baseboards, window. and door trims were retained and refinished. The remaining finishes were replaced, updated, and rendered in a neutral color palette.
The new bathrooms, kitchen, and millwork are detailed in crisp, minimal lines to emphasize the inherent qualities of the various natural materials selected for each area: wire-brushed white oak in the kitchen; large-scale, veined, and book-matched marble slabs in the bathrooms; and grey stained eucalyptus veneer in the dressing room. Our intent was to let these materials speak for themselves, providing interest and texture to the project.
